A retail pharmacy position is available within a grocery store setting in Alamogordo, New Mexico, offering an engaging role for experienced pharmacists. This travel contract opportunity provides the chance to work with a well-established health system’s pharmacy team, delivering essential patient care in a community-focused environment.

Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
Type: Travel Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks or longer (shorter contracts considered)
Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Weekends off at primary location; occasional weekend coverage at secondary location

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medications in compliance with protocols
  • Maintain up-to-date patient medication profiles
  • Supervise and direct pharmacy technician staff, verifying daily tasks
  • Participate in medical emergency responses within the pharmacy
  • Conduct inspections of medication storage areas, identifying outdated stock
  • Train and orient new pharmacy team members
  • Adhere to strict infection control practices

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active New Mexico Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain prior to start
  • Disclose all current and past licenses (active or inactive) for verification
  • Minimum of one year of registered pharmacist experience preferred
  • APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Experience working in a community grocery store pharmacy environment strongly preferred
  • Strong patient counseling and medication dispensing skills
  • Comfortable supervising pharmacy technicians and adapting between two retail locations, including occasional weekend shifts
