Per Diem Pharmacist in Retail Pharmacy | Columbus, Ohio

A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking experienced per diem pharmacists to support their Columbus, OH location. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in retail or specialty pharmacy who excel in patient consultation and disease state management. The pharmacy focuses on complex patients who may be managing 8-15 medications daily, emphasizing quality care and communication over volume.

Job Type: Per Diem
Schedule/Hours:

• Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Flexible start as needed to cover Spring and Summer vacation periods

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive medication review and counseling for patients with complex chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis
• Utilize strong communication skills to educate and support low literacy patients, many of whom are Medicare/Medicaid beneficiaries or low-income
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal medication therapy management
• Use Pioneer Rx software to manage prescriptions and document patient interactions efficiently
• Demonstrate patience and compassion to foster trust and adherence in a diverse patient population

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Ohio pharmacy license required
• Proven retail and/or specialty pharmacy experience, preferably with disease state management
• Proficiency with Pioneer Rx software highly preferred
• Excellent consultation and communication skills, particularly with complex medication regimens and vulnerable populations
• Ability to provide patient-centered care focusing on medicine therapy consultation rather than volume
