An established specialty retail pharmacy is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Elyria, OH. This role requires a professional comfortable working with complex patient cases, providing high-level pharmaceutical care to individuals managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. The patient population primarily includes Medicare/Medicaid recipients and low-income individuals who may have limited health literacy, demanding a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare and dispense medications, ensuring adherence to all pharmacy protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients taking multiple medications daily (8-15 drugs), providing clear instructions and support.
- Utilize pharmacy software efficiently, preferably Rx30, to manage prescriptions and patient records.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and patient outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with all state regulations and licensing requirements.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a retail or specialty pharmacy technician, with preference for those who have supported patients with chronic illnesses.
- Strong knowledge of the top 200-400 drugs commonly dispensed in retail pharmacies.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate patiently and compassionately with a diverse patient population.
- Ohio pharmacy technician license required; PTCB certification highly preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Rx30 pharmacy software is a plus.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This is a 13-week contract position with the potential to convert to permanent employment. The start date is immediate.
