Staff Pharmacist in Retail Pharmacy | Elyria, Ohio

A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to support complex patient needs at their Elyria, OH location. This contract-to-hire opportunity spans approximately 13 weeks with a potential for permanent placement. The pharmacy focuses on patients managing multiple chronic conditions, requiring candidates with patience, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of commonly prescribed medications.

Responsibilities:

• Assist pharmacists in accurately dispensing medications for patients taking 8-15 prescriptions daily.
• Provide compassionate support and clear communication to Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patients, many of whom have low health literacy.
• Utilize pharmacy software, preferably Rx30, to manage prescriptions and patient records efficiently.
• Handle specialized pharmacy tasks related to chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis).
• Maintain compliance with state regulations and pharmacy standards.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Experience as a retail or specialty pharmacy technician, ideally working with patients dealing with advanced chronic illnesses.
• Familiarity with Rx30 pharmacy software is highly preferred.
• OH pharmacy technician license required.
• PTCB certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to work with patients who may have low literacy levels.
• Compassionate approach to serving a diverse customer base, including Medicare/Medicaid recipients.

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
