Staff Pharmacist in Retail Pharmacy | Las Cruces, New Mexico

This contract position offers a structured schedule with dedicated weekdays and weekends usually off, allowing for a balanced work-life rhythm. The role requires flexibility to occasionally support a secondary location, including some weekend shifts, enhancing your experience across different retail environments.

Schedule:

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Closed weekends and six major holidays at primary location
• Occasional weekend coverage at secondary location as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active New Mexico Pharmacist License in good standing, or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Disclosure and verification of all active and inactive licenses
• Minimum one year of registered pharmacist experience preferred
• APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification required or to be obtained within 30 days
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or to be obtained within 30 days
• Availability to cover shifts at secondary retail location, including occasional weekends

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Proven retail pharmacist experience within a community grocery store pharmacy setting
• Strong patient counseling and precise medication dispensing capabilities
• Ability to supervise and guide pharmacy technician staff effectively
• Adaptability to work across multiple retail locations
• Prompt licensure acquisition if not currently licensed in New Mexico
• Immunization certification completed or in progress within 30 days
• Willingness to travel and availability for assignments of 13 weeks or more (shorter contracts considered)

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medications following established protocols
• Maintain detailed patient medication profiles ensuring accuracy
• Supervise pharmacy technicians, verifying daily operations
• Engage in medical emergency response participation as part of the pharmacy team
• Conduct medication storage inspections and remove outdated stock
• Provide orientation and training for new team members
