Staff Pharmacist in Retail Pharmacy - Lorain, Ohio

A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate pharmacy technician for a 13-week contract with potential for permanent hire. This role involves supporting a complex patient population, each managing multiple daily medications, requiring strong communication skills and drug knowledge.

Location:

• Lorain, OH

Schedule/Hours:

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Responsibilities:

• Assist in filling and dispensing prescriptions accurately for patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
• Provide compassionate patient service, particularly for Medicare/Medicaid and low-income individuals with low health literacy.
• Utilize pharmacy software, preferably Rx30, for prescription processing and record keeping.
• Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers, ensuring clarity and understanding.
• Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations and standards.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Experience as a retail or specialty pharmacy technician, ideally supporting patients with complex chronic diseases.
• Strong knowledge of top 200-400 drugs frequently found in retail pharmacy settings.
• Demonstrated patience and excellent communication skills to serve a diverse and often vulnerable patient population.
• Licensed pharmacy technician in Ohio is required; PTCB certification is highly preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with Rx30 pharmacy software is a significant advantage.
