This full-time pharmacist role offers a unique blend of retail and hospital inpatient pharmacy practice, located in close proximity within the same community. The position is a direct hire opportunity designed for a licensed pharmacist skilled in retail pharmacy services, with a willingness to expand expertise in inpatient pharmacy care.
Location: Pigeon, MI area (Harbor Beach, MI)
Schedule/Hours:
- Four days per week, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm
- One weekday off plus rotating weekends
Role Overview:
You will split your time between the retail pharmacy (approximately 70%) and the hospital inpatient pharmacy (approximately 30%). This dual setting allows for diverse day-to-day responsibilities and development in both areas. Pharmacy software systems include Pioneer RX for retail and CPSI for the hospital, with a transition to EPIC scheduled for November. Prescription volume is robust, averaging 250 per day and about 1,300 per week, including servicing local adult foster care and long-term care facility prescriptions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Review medication orders for accuracy, patient allergies, and potential interactions
- Prepare intravenous admixtures following standard formulas and safety protocols
- Provide informative and accurate responses to patient and staff inquiries
- Maintain confidentiality and work independently as well as collaboratively
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy
- Licensed pharmacist in the State of Michigan
- Experience in hospital pharmacy is preferred, but candidates open to learning inpatient pharmacy are encouraged to apply
