Per Diem Staff Pharmacist in Retail Pharmacy - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

A per diem opportunity is available for pharmacists with retail and specialty pharmacy expertise to support medication management for complex patients. This role focuses on delivering detailed patient consultations and personalized care for individuals with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis. Scheduled hours align with standard business operations, providing flexibility for professionals seeking varied workdays.

• Pittsburgh, PA

Schedule/Hours:

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities:

• Provide thorough consultations and medication management for patients taking multiple prescriptions daily (typically 8-15 medications).
• Assist a patient population primarily covered by Medicare and Medicaid with low literacy levels.
• Demonstrate patience, compassion, and strong communication skills when working with patients who require specialized attention.
• Utilize Pioneer Rx software to manage prescriptions and maintain accurate patient records.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize therapeutic outcomes for chronic and advanced disease states.
• Uphold the organization’s patient-focused values, prioritizing quality of care over prescription volume.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Active pharmacist license in Pennsylvania.
• Proven retail and/or specialty pharmacy experience with strong disease state management skills.
• Confidently manage and consult on complex medication therapies for chronic conditions.
• Experience consulting with low-income and/or Medicare/Medicaid patient populations is preferred.
• Familiarity with Pioneer Rx dispensing software is highly desired.
