Per Diem Staff Pharmacist in Retail Pharmacy - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking two per diem pharmacists to support their Pittsburgh, PA location. This role emphasizes patient-focused care for complex medication therapies, making strong consultation skills and disease state management essential.

Location:

• Pittsburgh, PA

Schedule/Hours:

• Per diem
• Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert consultation and dispense medications to patients with complex treatment regimens, often managing 8-15 medications daily
• Educate patients, many of whom have chronic advanced disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis
• Work closely with low-income Medicare and Medicaid populations, demonstrating patience, compassion, and excellent communication, especially for those with low literacy levels
• Collaborate within a specialty retail pharmacy environment that prioritizes patient care over volume

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Strong retail and/or specialty pharmacy background, with preference for specialty pharmacy experience
• Proven ability to manage and consult on chronic, advanced disease states confidently
• Exceptional patient communication and counseling skills, tailored for complex medication therapy
• Familiarity with Pioneer Rx software is highly desirable
• Valid Pharmacy license for Pennsylvania
