A growing hospital team seeks an experienced Retail/Outpatient Pharmacist to join and lead the launch of a new Chronic Illness & Pain Management Pharmacy on-site. This role offers a unique chance to shape a specialized pharmacy service within a collaborative clinical environment dedicated to improving patient care in a rural community.

Location: Red Oak, Iowa (approximately 1 hour from Omaha, NE)
Shift: Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Job type: Contract to Hire

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and successful launch of the Chronic Care/Pain Management Pharmacy
  • Provide expert outpatient and retail pharmacy services to patients
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare providers and care teams to optimize medication therapies
  • Deliver thorough patient counseling focusing on chronic disease management
  • Ensure strict compliance with all regulatory, safety, and quality standards
  • Identify and implement opportunities for workflow improvements and operational efficiency

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Active Pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure
  • Experience in retail and/or outpatient pharmacy practices
  • Ambulatory care experience highly preferred
  • Board Certification in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy (BCACP) is a strong plus
  • Strong clinical knowledge in chronic illness and pain management is advantageous
  • Comfortable working in a rural or small-town environment
  • Local candidates preferred; willing to relocate for long-term career growth

Technology Familiarity:

  • Cerner electronic health record system
  • ScriptPro dispensing technology
