A growing hospital team seeks an experienced Retail/Outpatient Pharmacist to join and lead the launch of a new Chronic Illness & Pain Management Pharmacy on-site. This role offers a unique chance to shape a specialized pharmacy service within a collaborative clinical environment dedicated to improving patient care in a rural community.
Location: Red Oak, Iowa (approximately 1 hour from Omaha, NE)
Shift: Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Job type: Contract to Hire
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and successful launch of the Chronic Care/Pain Management Pharmacy
- Provide expert outpatient and retail pharmacy services to patients
- Collaborate closely with healthcare providers and care teams to optimize medication therapies
- Deliver thorough patient counseling focusing on chronic disease management
- Ensure strict compliance with all regulatory, safety, and quality standards
- Identify and implement opportunities for workflow improvements and operational efficiency
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Active Pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure
- Experience in retail and/or outpatient pharmacy practices
- Ambulatory care experience highly preferred
- Board Certification in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy (BCACP) is a strong plus
- Strong clinical knowledge in chronic illness and pain management is advantageous
- Comfortable working in a rural or small-town environment
- Local candidates preferred; willing to relocate for long-term career growth
Technology Familiarity:
- Cerner electronic health record system
- ScriptPro dispensing technology
