A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking two Per Diem pharmacists to join their dedicated team in Washington, PA. This role is ideal for pharmacists with strong retail and specialty experience who are passionate about providing exceptional care to patients with complex medication needs.
The pharmacy specializes in managing complex cases where patients typically take 8-15 medications daily. Candidates must possess excellent communication and consultation skills, demonstrating patience and compassion when working with Medicare/Medicaid and low-income populations who may have low literacy rates. A robust knowledge of the top 200-400 retail drugs and confidence in managing chronic, advanced disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide thorough medication consultations and counseling to patients with complex therapy regimens
- Support disease state management to enhance patient outcomes
- Utilize the Pioneer Rx software for prescription processing and patient records
- Deliver compassionate care to a patient population requiring detailed attention beyond typical volume-driven workflows
- Work flexible per diem shifts, primarily Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, as needed
Qualifications:
- Active Pennsylvania pharmacist license
- Strong retail and/or specialty pharmacy experience preferred
- Proficient with Pioneer Rx software highly desired
- Excellent communication and consultation skills with a patient-first mindset
- Experience managing patients with chronic, advanced diseases
