This opportunity calls for a knowledgeable and dedicated pharmacist to join a hospital pharmacy team in Sitka, AK, for a 13-week contract starting in late July. The role centers on ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient drug therapy while providing expert medication counseling and guidance to medical, nursing, and village staff. The pharmacist will also be responsible for maintaining proper drug inventory and contributing to quality improvement initiatives, directly impacting patient healthcare outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and dispense medications in compliance with Federal and State laws
  • Advise healthcare staff on drug therapy and provide patient education
  • Manage and select appropriate drug inventory
  • Participate in pharmacy quality improvement activities
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in patient care

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Pharm.D. degree with active licensure as a registered pharmacist in Alaska; candidates with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree licensed prior to 2003 and 3 years of hospital/ambulatory clinic pharmacy experience will also be considered
  • Current Alaska pharmacist license is mandatory
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • Hospital pharmacy experience is required; completion of an ASHP-recognized residency is preferred
  • Must possess strong pharmaceutical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in computer applications
  • Ability to calculate precise medication dosages and adapt to a dynamic work environment

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have received flu vaccination prior to start date
  • Fingerprinting process must be completed 6 weeks prior to assignment start date to avoid delays
