A healthcare facility specializing in ambulatory infusion therapy is seeking a knowledgeable Staff Pharmacist to support their home infusion services on a per diem (PRN) basis in Portland, ME. This role emphasizes clinical pharmacy support for patients requiring IV and infusion treatments for acute and chronic conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process physician orders while verifying insurance benefits
- Perform sterile compounding and assist with cleanroom operations following USP 797 standards
- Ensure the safe dispensing of medications and infusion supplies
- Maintain accurate patient and pharmacy documentation in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff effectively
- Manage assigned patient caseloads and provide coverage for colleagues as needed
Schedule:
- Approximately 2 days per month with flexible scheduling options
- Additional PRN coverage available on an ongoing basis
Qualifications:
- Active Maine Pharmacist License in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience, with 2+ years of clinical pharmacy experience preferred
- Proven experience in infusion therapy and sterile compounding is required
- Thorough knowledge of USP 797 sterile compounding standards
- Strong communication skills, multitasking ability, time management, and critical-thinking aptitude
