A pharmacy located in the Springdale, AR area is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist for a 13-week contract opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent position based on performance. This role involves comprehensive pharmacy responsibilities within a long-term care setting, providing a dynamic environment to utilize your pharmacy skills and enhance patient care.
Location:
- Springdale, AR (approximately 30 minutes north of Fayetteville)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Rotating weekends every 3 weeks
Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and safely.
- Monitor patients’ medication compliance and detect patterns of over-usage.
- Ensure all medications comply with legal standards and suitability for patients.
- Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy documentation.
- Advise patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer related questions.
- Offer consultations on prescription and OTC medications, including storage, dosage, and drug interactions.
- Conduct patient services such as smoking cessation programs, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following strict procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy clerks effectively.
- Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Identify drug-related problems and collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize therapy.
Qualifications:
- Current Arkansas pharmacist license (in-hand).
- Experience in retail pharmacy is acceptable; training will be provided.
- Strong communication and supervisory skills.
- Familiarity with PV1 and PV2 duties, with some experience or willingness to perform IV preparations.
