Retail Staff Pharmacist | Staten Island, New York

An exceptional opportunity is available for experienced specialty pharmacists to support patients with rare diseases by working with rare and orphan drugs. This contract role focuses on high-touch patient and provider communication, requiring strong clinical skills and specialty pharmacy expertise.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately dispense specialty medications for rare/orphan diseases.
• Navigate complex approval processes for specialty drugs, including insurance authorizations and access programs.
• Assist patients and providers with payment assistance, grants, rebates, and specialty pharmacy programs.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare providers and patients to ensure optimal therapy outcomes.
• Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy operations.
• Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge of specialty drug therapies and patient management.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Active pharmacist license in Arizona, clear and in good standing.
• Demonstrated experience working within a designated specialty pharmacy setting (specialty retail or specialty mail order); pure retail experience with specialty drugs will not be considered.
• Proven ability to manage rare/orphan drug workflows and patient/provider communication.
• Strong clinical skills and effective communication capabilities.
• Familiarity with specialty pharmacy systems, particularly McKesson Enterprise (ERx).
• Experience supporting patients with high-cost specialty medications, including navigating insurance and payment assistance programs.

Location:
Bronx, NY (candidates should be comfortable working in this location or considering relocation)

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, daytime hours

Contract Type:

• 13-week contract with potential to convert to direct hire
