An exceptional opportunity is available for experienced specialty pharmacists to support patients with rare diseases by working with rare and orphan drugs. This contract role focuses on high-touch patient and provider communication, requiring strong clinical skills and specialty pharmacy expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately dispense specialty medications for rare/orphan diseases.
- Navigate complex approval processes for specialty drugs, including insurance authorizations and access programs.
- Assist patients and providers with payment assistance, grants, rebates, and specialty pharmacy programs.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare providers and patients to ensure optimal therapy outcomes.
- Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy operations.
- Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge of specialty drug therapies and patient management.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active pharmacist license in Arizona, clear and in good standing.
- Demonstrated experience working within a designated specialty pharmacy setting (specialty retail or specialty mail order); pure retail experience with specialty drugs will not be considered.
- Proven ability to manage rare/orphan drug workflows and patient/provider communication.
- Strong clinical skills and effective communication capabilities.
- Familiarity with specialty pharmacy systems, particularly McKesson Enterprise (ERx).
- Experience supporting patients with high-cost specialty medications, including navigating insurance and payment assistance programs.
Location:
Bronx, NY (candidates should be comfortable working in this location or considering relocation)
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, daytime hours
Contract Type:
- 13-week contract with potential to convert to direct hire
