Retail Staff Pharmacist in Staten Island, NY

A specialty pharmacy is seeking two experienced pharmacists with a strong background in handling rare and orphan drugs for patients with complex medical conditions. This opportunity involves supporting patients and healthcare providers in managing specialty medications that often require intricate approval processes and assistance programs.

Location: Bronx, NY
Type: Contract (13 weeks, contract to hire possible)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift
Start: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

• Dispense and manage rare/orphan specialty medications with precision and care
• Collaborate closely with patients and providers to facilitate drug approvals, insurance authorizations, and patient assistance programs
• Provide high-touch clinical support and clear communication to ensure patients receive optimal therapy
• Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy workflows
• Navigate complex reimbursement procedures including grants, rebates, and financial assistance initiatives

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Active and clear Arizona pharmacist license in good standing (required)
• Proven experience in a designated specialty pharmacy setting (retail pharmacists without specialty pharmacy experience will not be considered)
• Expertise working with specialty retail and/or specialty mail order pharmacy environments preferred
• Knowledge of specific disease states related to rare/orphan drugs demonstrated in resume
• Strong clinical skills combined with excellent communication abilities
• Ability to effectively support patients through the approval and access processes for expensive specialty medications
