Staff Pharmacist in Sylmar, CA

This opportunity calls for skilled outpatient pharmacists to support a leading county health system’s outpatient pharmacy operations. Job Type: Contract (with potential for permanent placement)
Schedule: 8-hour day shifts

Responsibilities:

• Dispense prescriptions accurately and efficiently in an outpatient pharmacy setting
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy for patients
• Provide comprehensive patient counseling and education on medication usage
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and LACDHS standards
• Support operational pharmacy activities to ensure smooth and effective workflow

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Pharmacist license and credentials in good standing
• Approximately 2 years of recent inpatient or outpatient retail pharmacy experience preferred
• PGY1 residency completion strongly preferred
• Ability to pass a competency examination (required for onboarding)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with patients and healthcare team members
• Commitment to accurate, professional, and compassionate patient care

Additional Information:
This position is part of a long-term contract to assist with operational needs while the permanent hiring process, which can take 6 to 8 months, is underway. Pharmacists hired through this contract have the opportunity to apply and transition into permanent roles within a unionized system offering excellent benefits, a pension, and career growth prospects.

The onboarding process includes passing a one-time competency exam and background clearance via Livescan fingerprinting, followed by a 4 to 6-week orientation period.
