A short-term opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist to support a retail pharmacy in a critical access hospital in remote Alaska. This seven-week contract role involves working at the pharmacy window in a small community hospital setting, providing essential pharmaceutical services to residents.
Location: Tatitlek, Alaska (assignment based in Cordova, AK)
Contract Duration: 7 weeks, starting June 1
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (lunch break 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM)
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense prescription medications accurately to patients in compliance with regulatory standards
- Counsel patients on medication usage and potential side effects
- Assist the healthcare team in managing pharmacy inventory and ensuring safety protocols
- Provide excellent customer service within the retail pharmacy window
- Maintain detailed records and proper documentation of pharmaceutical activities
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Active Alaska pharmacist license
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
- Minimum of two years professional pharmacy experience, preferably in retail or hospital settings
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote, small-town hospital environment
