An opportunity is available for experienced pharmacists to provide critical pharmacy services at a major Los Angeles County Department of Health hospital. This contract position offers a chance to support patient care in a dynamic inpatient setting with a schedule designed to maintain a balanced workload.
Location: Los Angeles County Department of Health hospital in Torrance, CA
Schedule: Variable days and afternoons, 4 shifts per week of 10 hours each (4/7 schedule)
Job Type: Contract with potential for transition to permanent employment
Responsibilities:
- Dispense medications accurately and efficiently in an inpatient hospital setting
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient medication regimens
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Participate in pharmacy operations including inventory management and quality assurance
- Pass a competency exam to validate clinical and operational skills prior to starting
- Complete necessary onboarding and background checks as part of regulatory compliance
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Licensed pharmacist with active state pharmacy license
- Preferred candidates have completed a PGY1 residency or possess approximately 2 years of current inpatient pharmacy experience
- Strong clinical knowledge and ability to manage inpatient medication therapy
- Excellent communication skills and capability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to commit to a long-term contract with a possibility of a seamless transition to permanent employment with the County health system
