A pharmacy professional is needed for a contract position in Waukesha, WI, starting August 17th for a 9-week duration. This role operates on the 2nd shift, from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with responsibilities including rotating weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify patterns of over-usage.
- Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal requirements.
- Verify appropriateness of prescribed medications for patients.
- Maintain confidential, accurate patient records and manage pharmacy files diligently.
- Provide patient consultations regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and answer any medication-related questions.
- Offer guidance on prescription and non-prescription medications concerning storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Deliver specialized services including smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on proper use and handling of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications for external and internal use, preparing sterile solutions in adherence to established procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Identify drug-related problems in patients and communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare teams.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to optimize patient care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Wisconsin pharmacist license (in-hand) is required.
- Willingness to accept pharmacists from retail backgrounds; training will be provided as needed.
