A Per Diem pharmacist position is available at a specialty retail pharmacy serving complex patients who typically manage 8-15 medications daily. This role requires strong communication and consultation skills, patience, and a comprehensive understanding of the top 200-400 drugs commonly found in retail settings. The pharmacist will be working with a patient population primarily consisting of Medicare/Medicaid and low-income individuals who may have low literacy rates, so compassion and clear communication are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert medication counseling and consultation for patients with chronic and advanced disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
- Ensure accurate dispensing and management of specialty medications.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize treatment plans focused on patient care rather than prescription volume.
- Utilize Pioneer Rx software for pharmacy operations and patient records.
- Deliver personalized care to support complex medication therapies tailored to patients’ specific needs.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Strong retail and/or specialty pharmacy background.
- Experience in disease state management and patient consultation is critical.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds and varying literacy levels.
- Patience and compassion when working with complex medication regimens.
- Familiarity with specialty pharmacy operations preferred.
