This per diem pharmacy position in Winston-Salem, NC, offers an opportunity to serve as an as-needed staff pharmacist supporting a behavioral health facility. The role involves direct inpatient hospital work with training provided on the facility's order entry system and the use of automation technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify medication orders accurately and efficiently
  • Collaborate closely with nursing staff and healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care
  • Utilize Omnicell automation for medication management (Pyxis experience considered)
  • Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Pharmacy and pharmacy team to meet patient needs
  • Assist with product verification and oversee medication distribution
  • Provide leadership and guidance to pharmacy technicians involved in medication filling, repackaging, and distribution

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current North Carolina pharmacist license is required
  • Inpatient hospital experience essential
  • Experience with Omnicell or Pyxis automation preferred
  • Behavioral health pharmacy knowledge is a strong plus
  • Comfortable working with various team members in a dynamic healthcare environment

Schedule & Training:

  • Initial training begins in early May with five days of instruction from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Coverage needed on May 16-17 and May 30-31 with weekend hours 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Future dates in June and beyond will be scheduled as needed
  • Typical shift hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with weekend shifts 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Additional Details:

  • Dress code includes black or sage green scrubs or business casual attire
  • The pharmacy team includes a Director of Pharmacy, full-time and per diem pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians
