A long-term care pharmacy in Winterville, NC, is seeking a dedicated pharmacist for a 13-week contract with the opportunity to transition to a permanent role based on performance. This role involves both PV1 and PV2 duties, supporting patient care and medication management in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Rotating Saturdays

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
  • Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal regulations.
  • Verify that prescribed medicines are appropriate for patients.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
  • Provide patient consultations regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Offer additional services such as smoking cessation counseling, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on the use of medical devices such as glucose monitors and blood pressure cuffs.
  • Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
  • Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare professionals to address drug-related issues.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must hold an active North Carolina pharmacist license.
  • Experience in retail pharmacy is welcomed; training will be provided as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
