Radiation Therapist | Freeport, Illinois

Seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist for a contract assignment at a bustling cancer center providing care with two treatment units. This high-volume role involves administering therapy to 64-68 patients daily using advanced equipment—specifically, two Varian linear accelerators (TrueBeam and EDGE). The ideal candidate is independent, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment within a mid to large hospital setting.

Schedule:

• 13-week contract
• Monday – Friday, between 7:00am and 5:30pm
• Flexible hours based on patient volumes

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience in mid-to-large hospital environments
• Proficiency operating Varian TrueBeam and Varian EDGE linear accelerators
• Familiarity with ARIA record and verify system (will be upgrading to v18.1)
• Active Radiation Therapy certification from both ARRT and IEMA
• Valid Illinois (IL) license, must be in hand at time of submission
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently without direct supervision
• Must reside beyond a 60-mile radius from the facility (no local applicants)

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver safe and effective radiation therapy treatments as prescribed
• Monitor and assess patient responses, ensuring comfort and care throughout procedures
• Operate and maintain complex radiation equipment in accordance with protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, physicists, and oncology teams to ensure accuracy and safety
• Maintain meticulous patient records and comply with all regulatory requirements
