A dynamic opportunity is available for a compassionate, detail-oriented Radiation Therapist to support a dedicated Radiation Oncology department on a PRN (as-needed) basis. This crucial role involves providing expert coverage during staffing fluctuations, vacations, leaves of absence, and periods of increased patient volume. Key Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed radiation treatments with precision under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist
- Utilize, operate, and maintain Varian Linear Accelerators and Accuray radiation therapy equipment
- Confirm patient identification and treatment parameters prior to each procedure
- Monitor and assess patient well-being, responding promptly to concerns or unusual developments
- Accurately document treatment sessions and keep comprehensive records
- Work collaboratively with physicians, dosimetrists, physicists, nurses, and the healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient care
- Adhere strictly to established safety protocols and regulatory requirements
- Participate in ongoing departmental quality assurance and education initiatives
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy program
- Active California Radiation Therapist license or eligibility to obtain prior to onboarding
- ARRT [RT(T)] certification or eligibility to achieve certification
- Current BLS certification or willingness to earn upon hire
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently and adjust to evolving schedules
Preferred
- Experience with Varian and/or Accuray treatment systems
- Prior clinical exposure in a radiation oncology setting
