Provide comprehensive cardiopulmonary care to patients of all ages as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in a rewarding contract position in Akiachak, Alaska. Responsibilities:
- Administer respiratory treatments and interventions including airway management, ventilator operation, and chest physiotherapy
- Perform ABG procurement and analysis; monitor patient oxygenation and ventilation status
- Intubation assistance and CPR support as required
- Accurately document all respiratory therapies and patient responses
- Interpret and follow physicians’ orders and hospital policies
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatment techniques and purposes
- Collaborate with healthcare team to optimize patient care plans
- Utilize specialized equipment such as ventilators, pulse oximeters, nebulizers, and blood gas analyzers
- Maintain compliance with respiratory therapy standards and safety protocols
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an AMA accredited Respiratory Therapy program or equivalent with an AS Degree
- Minimum one year of clinical experience in hospital respiratory patient care
- Current credentials from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as CRTT, CRT, RT, or RRT
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) encouraged
- Strong skills in reading/interpreting physician orders, technical manuals, and policy documents
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff
- Proficient with respiratory therapy equipment and cardiopulmonary testing procedures
