Provide comprehensive cardiopulmonary care to patients of all ages requiring respiratory therapy services. This role requires delivering treatments that respect patient rights and dignity while assisting in problem-solving for patient care challenges. The position is offered on a contract basis in Bethel, Alaska.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer full scope respiratory therapy including airway management, ventilator operation, patient suctioning, chest physiotherapy, and ABG sampling and analysis.
  • Operate and maintain respiratory equipment such as adult, pediatric, and infant ventilators, pulse oximeters, suction devices, oxygen delivery systems, nebulizers, and pulmonary function testing instruments.
  • Accurately interpret physician orders and hospital policies to implement appropriate treatments.
  • Document therapies administered and contribute to writing and revising procedure manuals.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and families, ensuring understanding of respiratory treatment plans. Utilize interpreter services as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, including providing proof of completed COVID-19 vaccinations.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program or equivalent with an Associate of Science degree.
  • Minimum of one year clinical experience in hospital-based respiratory therapy.
  • Current National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials: CRTT, CRT, RT, or RRT.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications encouraged.
  • Strong skills in technical reading, mathematical computations relevant to therapy, reasoning for patient care, and detailed documentation.
