As a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will provide critical respiratory care within a Level 2 Special Care Nursery setting. Your expertise will support neonatal and pediatric patients, ensuring best practices in assessment, intervention, and education regarding advanced respiratory therapies and protocols.
Schedule:
- Contract position with flexible full-time hours
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Valid licensure to practice in the relevant state
- Proficiency in neonatal respiratory care, especially within Level 2 Special Care Nurseries
- Current NRP certification
- Strong knowledge of medicated aerosol therapy, including small volume nebulizers
- Experience with manual ventilation, T-piece ventilation, and high-risk deliveries
- Familiarity with DPI, MDI, holding chambers, and medication carts (such as Omnicell)
- Competence in blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional respiratory care to neonates, including humidified therapy, oxygen mask/nasal cannula use, and suctioning
- Administer medicated aerosol therapy and surfactant therapy as appropriate
- Assist with intubation of neonates and work collaboratively with delivery teams during high-risk situations
- Adhere to NRP protocols for safe and effective neonatal resuscitation
- Utilize bar coding for medication administration to ensure safety and accuracy
- Educate patients’ families on respiratory equipment and therapies (aerosol, MDI, DPI)
- Maintain and monitor respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring proper function and sanitation
