Seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to support a Level 2 Special Care Nursery in a dynamic, contract role. You will play a crucial part in delivering specialized neonatal care, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring optimal respiratory support for newborns.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Current credential as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or ability to obtain)
- Strong understanding of neonatal respiratory therapy in Level 2 Special Care Nursery environments
- Experience in patient and family education regarding respiratory therapies
- Proficiency with medication carts, Omnicell, and bar code medication administration
Essential Responsibilities:
- Administer medicated aerosol therapy to neonates using small-volume nebulizers
- Provide patient and family education on aerosol, MDI, and DPI therapies, including use of holding chambers
- Use and manage medication delivery systems and ensure accurate bar coding practices
- Perform suctioning, manual ventilation, and assist with intubations
- Support assisted ventilation and manage high-risk deliveries with surfactant administration
- Strictly adhere to NRP protocol, applying appropriate interventions as needed
- Operate and interpret results from blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation
- Administer humidified therapies, including heated humidity setups, aerosol masks, nasal cannulas, and oxygen masks
- Collaborate effectively with nursing and neonatal medical staff during clinical decision-making
