Registered Respiratory Therapist - Mentor, OH

Seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to support a Level 2 Special Care Nursery in a dynamic, contract role. You will play a crucial part in delivering specialized neonatal care, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring optimal respiratory support for newborns.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Current credential as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or ability to obtain)
• Strong understanding of neonatal respiratory therapy in Level 2 Special Care Nursery environments
• Experience in patient and family education regarding respiratory therapies
• Proficiency with medication carts, Omnicell, and bar code medication administration

Essential Responsibilities:

• Administer medicated aerosol therapy to neonates using small-volume nebulizers
• Provide patient and family education on aerosol, MDI, and DPI therapies, including use of holding chambers
• Use and manage medication delivery systems and ensure accurate bar coding practices
• Perform suctioning, manual ventilation, and assist with intubations
• Support assisted ventilation and manage high-risk deliveries with surfactant administration
• Strictly adhere to NRP protocol, applying appropriate interventions as needed
• Operate and interpret results from blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation
• Administer humidified therapies, including heated humidity setups, aerosol masks, nasal cannulas, and oxygen masks
• Collaborate effectively with nursing and neonatal medical staff during clinical decision-making
