Advance your respiratory therapy career by delivering life-saving care to neonatal patients as part of a specialized neonatal intensive care and transport unit. This contract role focuses on providing expert respiratory support to critically ill newborns, including both in-hospital and transport environments.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 2–3 shifts per week, as scheduled

Qualifications:

  • Current RRT or CRT credential required
  • NRP and PALS certifications required; STABLE preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU transport experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in neonatal airway and ventilation management, including mask ventilation, airway stabilization, and multiple ventilator modalities (conventional, HFOV, CPAP/NIV, HFNC)
  • Experience with transport physiology, isolette systems, equipment troubleshooting, and EMS integration
  • Proven skills in crisis management, including rapid response to respiratory decline and equipment failure
  • Well-developed communication abilities for effective team handoffs and coordination with external facilities
  • Annual completion of transport-specific competencies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe management of neonatal respiratory support during both stationary care and transport, using advanced and transport-specific ventilators (Hamilton/Cross Vent and TXP)
  • Perform and document all aspects of neonatal transport, including patient assessments, interventions, and equipment management
  • Master operation and troubleshooting of transport equipment, ensuring all safety protocols are followed (ground and air)
  • Assist with procedures such as bag-mask ventilation, advanced airway management, line placement (PIV/UVC), and point-of-care testing (ABG/CBG, glucose, etc.)
  • Maintain meticulous records using the unit’s paper documentation system
