Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver intensive respiratory care and transport patients safely in and out of the facility.
- Evaluate patients and recommend individualized respiratory treatment plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding therapies, tests, and equipment, including discharge instructions.
- Administer routine and complex respiratory treatments using a range of ventilatory and aerosol devices.
- Perform chest physiotherapy, secretion clearance, suctioning, oximetry, and capnography monitoring.
- Conduct routine chest x-ray reviews, 12-lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function studies.
- Assist with specialized procedures (e.g., bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, pleural drainage, tracheostomy care).
- Perform arterial punctures, analyze test results, and maintain thorough documentation.
- Operate and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment as required.
- Ensure effective shift-to-shift communication and accurate respiratory therapy charges.
- Adhere to hospital policies regarding laboratory testing, reporting, equipment maintenance, and emergency resuscitation.
- Contribute flexibly with other assigned duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
- Experience in critical care or rehab settings is highly valued.
- Proficiency with ventilatory equipment, respiratory procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Strong communication and education skills.
