Respiratory Therapist (RT) in Louisville, KY

Step into a vital role within an advanced respiratory care department providing expert services across a large, diverse hospital setting. This contract position is ideal for respiratory care professionals with a strong foundation in adult critical care and an interest in working with a wide variety of patient cases, from respiratory failure and COPD to trauma and complex strokes. The facility ensures robust support, modern technology, and comprehensive onboarding to set new hires up for success.

Schedule/Hours:

• 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend rotation
• Holiday coverage required
• Schedules posted 4 weeks in advance for a 6-week schedule cycle

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Previous adult critical care experience required for first-time travelers
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Active state license as an RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) preferred; experienced CRTs (Certified Respiratory Therapists) will be considered with manager approval
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NRP preferred
• Proficiency with adult critical care, intubation assist, bedside bronchoscopy, epoprostenol therapy, high-flow oxygen, ABGs, SVN/aerogen/MDI therapies
• Level I trauma experience preferred

Responsibilities:

• Deliver advanced respiratory care to a range of adult patients, floating as needed throughout the hospital
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff in critical care interventions and rapid response
• Assist with bedside procedures such as intubations, tracheostomies, and bronchoscopies
• Operate and monitor cutting-edge equipment, including PB 980, Hamilton MRI, and various ventilation systems
• Navigate Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication dispensing platforms efficiently
• Undergo a thorough orientation with department leadership and education staff

$1,575 - $1,714/Week Estimated weekly earnings represent hourly wages, based on 36 hours per week, and expense reimbursement for eligible candidates. The actual amount may vary based on hours worked, eligibility for reimbursements, and seasonal adjustments.
