As a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist, you’ll play an essential role in delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients with varying levels of acuity. Your background should include:
- Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Active and valid state respiratory care license
- BLS certification; ACLS preferred
- Strong assessment, documentation, and critical thinking skills
- Previous experience in acute care or hospital settings
Key responsibilities include:
- Administering prescribed respiratory therapy treatments and procedures (such as oxygen therapy, ventilator management, and aerosol treatments)
- Monitoring patient progress, making respiratory care recommendations, and adjusting therapies as needed
- Collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Performing diagnostic tests, such as arterial blood gases and pulmonary function testing
- Educating patients and families on respiratory conditions and equipment use
- Ensuring accurate, timely documentation of care delivered and patient responses
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and well-equipped work environment by adhering to established protocols
