A large, well-established hospital in Southwestern Georgia is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 17-week contract. This opportunity offers the chance to make a significant impact in high-acuity ICU and Emergency Room settings, working closely with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals. The position entails a night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am.

Schedule:

  • 7:00pm – 7:00am (12-hour night shifts)
  • Weekday and weekend teams: M-Thurs or Fri-Sun (will be clarified in assignment)
  • Rotating holiday coverage (every other holiday)
  • No call required

Qualifications:

  • Active RRT credential and Georgia RT license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent critical care experience in a 300+ bed facility
  • At least 1 previous travel contract assignment
  • Proficient and comfortable with patient intubation and high workload environments
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS; NRP if assigned to NICU
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver all RT core duties: nebulizer treatments, airway management, vapotherm, BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management, ABG collection, bedside PFTs, CPT
  • In ICU: insert A-lines, manage blood gases, perform intubations and bronchoscopies, suggest and manage ventilator settings, identify and report abnormal ABG results
  • Care for a caseload averaging 13-15 patients per shift, including a wide spectrum of respiratory diagnoses (e.g., COPD, CHF, respiratory failure, ARDS)
  • Utilize Servo vents (U and I models), document using Meditech EMR
  • Rapidly respond to codes as the first-line professional for airway management

Additional Details:

  • Staff wear ceil blue scrubs (jackets must also be ceil blue)
  • Thorough orientation provided; extra ICU onboarding for critical care therapists
