A travel opportunity is available for experienced Respiratory Therapists to provide specialized respiratory care in a dynamic hospital setting. This role is ideal for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) with a strong background in acute and critical care, including pediatrics and emergency departments. You will be supporting a busy tertiary, teaching hospital with a Level 1 trauma center designation, contributing to patient care across a broad spectrum of acuity levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy services across various units including Surgical ICU, Intermediate Care, NICU/PICU, and Emergency Department
- Operate advanced respiratory equipment such as Drager V500/VN500, Hamilton T1/C1, Respironics V30/V60, Trilogy line, Airvo, and Vapotherm
- Maintain accurate patient records using the EPIC electronic medical system
- Provide critical respiratory support to both adult and pediatric patients with acute and critical conditions
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure excellent patient outcomes
- Respond to on-call situations within two hours to provide urgent respiratory care
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certified Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential is required
- Minimum of 3 years respiratory therapy experience in acute care settings
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required for NICU assignments
- Experience in tertiary care, teaching hospitals, and Level 1 trauma centers strongly preferred
- Familiarity with critical care ventilators and respiratory modalities
- Strong communication skills, flexibility, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
Location: The assignment is based in Biddeford, ME, with patient care performed at a nearby major hospital campus. This scenic coastal region offers a blend of small-town charm and access to metropolitan amenities. Schedule & Assignment Details:
- 36 hours per week, primarily 12-hour night shifts (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend rotations totaling 36 hours per pay period
- On-call responsibilities as specified
- Preferred contract duration of approximately 26 weeks
- Multiple openings available, supporting expanding respiratory care units
