Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, effective respiratory care to patients in acute and sub-acute settings.
- Assess, plan, and implement therapy according to physician orders and patient needs.
- Perform diagnostics such as arterial blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, and bedside spirometry.
- Monitor patient progress, document interventions, and adjust treatments as necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies and home care practices.
- Ensure accurate and timely charting of all therapies and outcomes.
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure availability and safety.
Qualifications:
- Current credential as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Active Respiratory Therapy license (or eligibility) for the state of Virginia.
- Minimum one year of recent acute care experience in respiratory therapy preferred.
- Ability to function independently and as part of a healthcare team.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
