Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license, or eligibility to obtain
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver respiratory care services to patients in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols
  • Perform ventilator management, airway care, and oxygen therapy interventions
  • Administer aerosol medications and pulmonary treatments
  • Evaluate patient responses to therapy and adjust care as needed
  • Conduct arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all respiratory procedures and assessments
  • Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and other care team members to optimize patient outcomes
  • Provide patient and family education on respiratory conditions and self-care when appropriate
