Qualifications:
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license, or eligibility to obtain
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver respiratory care services to patients in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols
- Perform ventilator management, airway care, and oxygen therapy interventions
- Administer aerosol medications and pulmonary treatments
- Evaluate patient responses to therapy and adjust care as needed
- Conduct arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all respiratory procedures and assessments
- Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and other care team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Provide patient and family education on respiratory conditions and self-care when appropriate
