Take on a rewarding opportunity as a registered or certified respiratory therapist in a dynamic pediatric setting, providing expert care as part of a collaborative resource team. This contract role is based in a 247-bed teaching hospital and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, known for its advanced specialty services. The department delivers comprehensive respiratory care across all age groups, from neonates and children to adults as necessary.

Schedule & Hours

  • 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
  • Rotating weekends (every other weekend)
  • No on-call required
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of recognized holidays

Key Qualifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with current NC licensure
  • Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications as required for resource team roles
  • Minimum of 2 years’ direct experience in respiratory therapy (resource team)
  • Demonstrated experience with IPPV/NIPPV ventilators
  • Proficient in care across ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, PCU, and general medical floors
  • EPIC EMR proficiency or willingness to train
  • Permanent address located at least 50 miles from the facility

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality respiratory assessments, therapies, and interventions hospital-wide, focusing on pediatric populations but extending to adults as needed
  • Safely operate department-specific ventilators and related equipment
  • Participate in departmental orientation, ongoing education, and staff support under the guidance of respiratory leadership
  • Adhere to all facility care protocols and documentation standards in EPIC EMR
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams while providing support in a fast-paced, trauma-certified environment
