A critical opportunity is available for a Registered Respiratory Therapist with specialized Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) expertise. This contract position provides a focused environment to apply and expand advanced neonatal respiratory care skills, ideal for therapists dedicated to high-quality newborn care.

Location: Situated in Olathe, KS, this position offers access to a vibrant community known for its family-friendly atmosphere, excellent schools, and convenient proximity to larger metropolitan amenities. Schedule:

  • Evening shift from 1830 to 0700
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend off
  • No floating required

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
  • Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Recent NICU experience within the past 6 months, with a preference for a minimum of one year total NICU experience
  • Demonstrated recent newborn delivery experience, including high-risk deliveries
  • Proficient in neonatal intubations, ventilator management, non-invasive ventilation (NIV) management
  • Preferred skills in oscillator management and surfactant administration
  • Comprehensive understanding of neonatal care practices

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized respiratory care to neonates in the NICU, including complex ventilator management and resuscitation
  • Collaborate closely with neonatologists and NICU staff to optimize respiratory therapy plans
  • Perform and assist in neonatal intubations and manage respiratory support devices
  • Administer surfactant therapy as indicated and ensure adherence to treatment protocols
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality care initiatives
