A large, dynamic hospital in southwestern Georgia is seeking a highly skilled, registered respiratory therapist for a 17-week contract assignment working 7p–7a. This night shift opportunity is ideal for professionals comfortable with high acuity and heavy workloads in fast-paced ICU and ER environments. You’ll serve as a frontline responder for intubations and ventilator management, collaborating closely with hospitalists and other critical care teams.
Schedule:
- 7p-7a (night shift)
- Weekend and holiday rotations required (alternating schedule with established teams)
- No on-call requirement
Qualifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Active Georgia RT license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (NRP required only if working NICU)
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (including travel contract experience)
- Previous experience in facilities with 300+ beds
- Comfort and proficiency in managing intubations and ventilators independently
- Must adhere to a strict 75-mile radius rule
- Familiarity with high patient volumes and minute-driven workflow (550 minutes per shift, with 13-15 patients average)
- Proficiency with Meditech EMR and Servo (U and I models) ventilators
Responsibilities:
- Deliver all RT duties: nebulizations, airway management, vapotherm, BiPAP/CPAP, vents, ABG collection, bedside PFTs, CPT, and more
- In the ICU: place A lines, manage blood gases, perform intubations and bronchs, make ventilation suggestions, alert for critical ABG values
- Care for diverse populations: adults and pediatrics (NICU RTs work under a dedicated nursing manager)
- Treat patients with complex conditions such as COPD, CHF, pneumonia, ARDS, cancers, respiratory failure, and more
