Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) - Andover, MN

Step into a rewarding role as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, serving a vibrant community of schools throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. This contract position spans the full 2026-2027 academic year, from August 31, 2026, through June 10, 2027, offering a consistent 30-hour workweek. As the third member of a dedicated DAPE team, your caseload will be thoughtfully divided, minimizing the likelihood of traveling between schools on the same day.

Qualifications:

• Current DAPE (Developmental Adapted Physical Education) license required
• Proven experience or strong passion for working with students who have diverse physical abilities
• Understanding of adaptive curriculum modifications, inclusive physical education programming, and IEP development
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with staff, families, and other professionals
• Flexibility to support multiple school communities with a positive, adaptive mindset

Responsibilities:

• Deliver adaptive physical education instruction across a group of five schools, promoting physical literacy and engagement for all students
• Develop, adapt, and implement individualized and group lessons aligned with IEP goals and state standards
• Collaborate with general PE teachers, special education teams, and families to design effective, inclusive programming
• Participate in IEP meetings and ongoing progress monitoring, maintaining accurate documentation and reports
• Foster a supportive, encouraging, and safe learning environment for students of all backgrounds and abilities
