Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) - Andover, Minnesota

Bring your expertise and passion for adaptive physical education into a welcoming school environment! We’re seeking a Developmental Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to support students at two middle schools during a full-time, contract assignment for the fall semester. This is an excellent opportunity to foster physical growth, inclusivity, and confidence among students through creative, individualized education.

Key Qualifications:

• Must hold a valid Minnesota DAPE license (please include license details on your resume)
• Experience working with diverse learners in an adaptive or special education setting preferred
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with educators, families, and support staff
• Demonstrated ability to modify physical education activities to meet student needs
• Collaborative, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to inclusive education

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement adaptive physical education curriculum for middle school students across two campuses
• Assess students’ abilities, track progress, and adjust lesson plans accordingly
• Collaborate closely with IEP teams, related services, and general education staff
• Foster a supportive, active, and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates each child’s achievements
• Engage in regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and participation
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district, state, and federal requirements

Assignment Details:

• Full-time, Monday through Friday, with 37.5 hours per week
• Contract runs from early September through late November
• Serve students at two nearby middle schools for dynamic, varied experience
