Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) in Anoka, MN

Qualifications/Preferred Experience:

• Valid teaching licensure in Adaptive Physical Education (Minnesota or eligible for reciprocal endorsement)
• Proven experience working with students with diverse learning abilities, preferably in a K-12 setting
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation as related to physical education
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, colleagues, and guardians
• Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to individual student needs
• Energetic, positive, and patient demeanor

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver adaptive physical education lessons that align with students' needs and abilities
• Assess student progress and document outcomes for IEP meetings and reports
• Collaborate with IEP teams, special education staff, and families to ensure student needs are met
• Modify physical activities and equipment to maximize participation and safety
• Promote student self-esteem, social skills, and functional independence through active engagement
• Maintain up-to-date records, progress notes, and documentation as required
• Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices in adaptive PE
