Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid licensure in Adaptive Physical Education or eligibility for relevant certification
- Demonstrated experience teaching students with diverse abilities in K-6 settings
- Strong knowledge of adaptive physical education curriculum, best practices, and assessment tools
- Excellent collaboration skills to work with general and special education teams
- Effective communication with students, families, and school staff
- Enthusiasm for creating engaging, supportive, and safe physical activity opportunities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as DAPE teacher across two elementary schools, creating and delivering individualized adaptive PE lessons
- Adapt physical education activities to the unique needs and abilities of students
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and instructional aides to support student learning and participation
- Develop and implement IEP goals related to motor skills, coordination, and fitness
- Track student progress through ongoing assessment and thoughtful documentation
- Educate and engage families in promoting active lifestyles outside of school
- Contribute to a positive, encouraging classroom climate where every student feels included and celebrated
