Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) in Anoka, MN

Key Qualifications:

• Current Minnesota DAPE (Developmental Adaptive Physical Education) teaching license required
• Experience developing and implementing adaptive physical education curriculum for middle school students
• Strong collaboration skills to work with school staff, families, and support teams
• Ability to create an inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environment for students with varying abilities
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Commitment to fostering a positive, motivating, and respectful atmosphere

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate adaptive physical education lessons for students in grades 6-8 at two middle school campuses
• Assess physical abilities and needs to ensure tailored instruction for each student’s IEP goals
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to parents and school teams
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and paraprofessionals to support an integrated learning approach
• Adapt curriculum and activities as needed for individual and small group instruction
• Cultivate a positive, inclusive classroom environment that values diversity and empowers student participation
