Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) | Berkeley, California

This full-time, onsite contract runs from August 11, 2026, through June 4, 2027, and offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, diverse educational environment that values inclusive teaching practices.

Ideal candidates will have:

• A valid California teaching credential specializing in Adapted Physical Education
• Experience working with K-12 students who have a range of physical and cognitive abilities
• Strong knowledge of individualized education program (IEP) processes and compliance requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Flexibility and adaptability to serve an itinerant caseload across multiple school sites

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing adapted physical education lessons tailored to individual student abilities
• Assessing students to determine appropriate modifications and accommodations
• Collaborating with classroom teachers, paraeducators, and related service providers to promote an inclusive environment
• Maintaining thorough records and participating in IEP meetings as required
• Traveling to various assignment locations within the district to support students’ progress
• Ensuring compliance with district policies and state educational standards
