Key Qualifications:
- Licensed or certified as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, or eligibility to obtain licensure in Illinois
- Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities or adaptive needs, preferably in a school setting
- Comprehensive understanding of adaptive physical education principles and strategies for diverse learning abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to tailor lesson plans to meet a wide variety of student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and implement adaptive physical education lessons that foster skill development, fitness, and inclusion
- Work closely with school staff and other professionals to assess students and create individualized education plans (IEPs) related to physical education
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with physical or other disabilities, adapting activities as needed to maximize participation and success
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and student outcomes
- Participate in IEP meetings and communicate student progress with parents and educational staff
- Promote a positive, encouraging atmosphere where every student can experience personal growth and achieve physical education goals
This contract position is scheduled for 32.5 hours per week, offering a balanced workweek that allows you to make a difference while maintaining a flexible schedule.
