Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) | Charlotte, North Carolina

This position will have you working full-time in an itinerant capacity near Charlotte, NC, supporting students with diverse abilities across multiple schools. Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited education program (required)
• Active NCDPI PE Certification; candidates must submit proof of licensure
• Prior experience working with students with disabilities or within an adaptive physical education setting preferred
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction and competency developing/adapting lesson plans for IEP goals
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

• Provide adaptive physical education instruction in alignment with North Carolina’s Standard Course of Study
• Develop, modify, and deliver lessons and activities based on each student’s strengths, challenges, and IEP requirements
• Foster a safe, encouraging atmosphere that supports physical and motor development for students with disabilities
• Manage classroom behavior and ensure the well-being of all students during activities
• Assess progress, maintain documentation, and report outcomes to families and school teams
• Collaborate with special education teachers, related service providers, and families to maximize student inclusion and success
• Engage in professional development and uphold district procedures
