This position will have you working full-time in an itinerant capacity near Charlotte, NC, supporting students with diverse abilities across multiple schools. You’ll help create a positive, inclusive environment tailored to individual learning styles and physical needs—an ideal role for someone passionate about adaptive education and collaborative teamwork.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited education program (required)
- Active NCDPI PE Certification; candidates must submit proof of licensure
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities or within an adaptive physical education setting preferred
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and competency developing/adapting lesson plans for IEP goals
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide adaptive physical education instruction in alignment with North Carolina’s Standard Course of Study
- Develop, modify, and deliver lessons and activities based on each student’s strengths, challenges, and IEP requirements
- Foster a safe, encouraging atmosphere that supports physical and motor development for students with disabilities
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure the well-being of all students during activities
- Assess progress, maintain documentation, and report outcomes to families and school teams
- Collaborate with special education teachers, related service providers, and families to maximize student inclusion and success
- Engage in professional development and uphold district procedures
