Qualifications & Skills:

• Active teaching credential with authorization in Adaptive Physical Education
• Previous experience as an APE Teacher or similar role in a school setting
• Understanding of developing and adapting lesson plans to meet individual education plans (IEPs)
• Ability to collaborate well with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff
• Strong communication skills to partner with students, families, and colleagues
• Enthusiasm for working with children and commitment to supporting diverse learners

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and implement engaging adaptive PE lessons that accommodate various ability levels
• Assess students’ physical abilities and progress, documenting achievements and adjusting instruction as needed
• Adapt equipment and activities to create safe, accessible opportunities for all students
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise for student plans
• Foster positive relationships and provide encouragement to build students’ confidence and love for movement
• Maintain a supportive and safe classroom environment
• Work closely with school staff to offer integrated support for students
