Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Adaptive Physical Education or equivalent credentials.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering customized PE programs for students with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation within the school setting.
  • Excellent communication skills to foster collaboration with teachers, therapists, parents, and administrators.
  • Ability to assess motor skills and adapt activities to ensure inclusive participation.
  • Creative problem-solving approach and adaptability in dynamic educational environments.
  • Dedication to fostering a positive, safe, and motivating atmosphere for all students.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, adapt, and implement individualized physical education plans aligned with IEP goals and student abilities.
  • Assess student skills, track progress, and provide data-driven recommendations to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Modify equipment and activities to accommodate diverse needs and promote maximum engagement.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, offering expertise on adaptive strategies and student progress.
  • Serve as a resource for general education staff regarding inclusion and adaptive techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations in special education.
  • Encourage social, emotional, and physical development through creative movement and recreation.
