Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) - Elk River, MN

A highly-regarded district in the Blaine, MN area is seeking a passionate and dedicated professional with a Minnesota DAPE license to serve as a Developmental Adaptive Physical Education Teacher. This contract opportunity spans both Northdale Middle School and Roosevelt Middle School from September 3, 2026, through November 30, 2026. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families to create accessible, inclusive physical education experiences.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current Minnesota DAPE (Developmental Adapted Physical Education) teaching license is required
• Experience working with students who have developmental, cognitive, or physical disabilities preferred
• Strong knowledge of adaptive physical education best practices and curriculum development
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual education plans (IEPs) and unique student needs

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement developmentally appropriate, individualized adaptive physical education lessons
• Assess students’ motor skills, progress, and needs, using a variety of tools and observations
• Work closely with IEP teams to set measurable goals and objectives for each student
• Deliver engaging physical activities in a safe, supportive environment
• Maintain thorough records and collaborate regularly with staff and families
• Support an inclusive, encouraging atmosphere across both school sites
