Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) - Gretna, LA

Essential Qualifications:

• Valid Physical Education teaching credential (APE certification strongly preferred; PE certification required)
• Experience or passion for delivering adaptive physical education to diverse learning needs
• Reliable transportation and a willingness to travel between 2–3 campuses within the district
• Exceptional organizational abilities and adaptability to shifting caseloads and locations
• Comfortable managing itinerant services on either the East or West Bank, depending on district needs
• Completion of required district credentialing, including drug screening and fingerprinting

Role Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement adaptive physical education instruction tailored to a varied caseload of students across multiple school sites
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, aides, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate services and support student IEPs
• Maintain thorough records of student progress, attendance, and communication logs as required by district standards
• Create an inclusive and motivating environment that supports physical, social, and emotional development
• Ensure effective communication with school staff and families regarding student participation and achievement
